OTWA boasts some of the most professional instructors available in the Tampa Bay area. We are a full service NAUI dive center and offer a variety of courses from beginner to Open Water Instructor. Our staff has many years of experience and is dedicated to providing you with the training for your skill development. Families, young adults and persons with special needs are welcome. Advanced Courses
Advanced Open Water Certification– $395 ( includes e-learning )
Let the adventure continue! Apply your scuba skills as you explore new dive sites and activities under the supervision and continuing training of your OTWA Instructor. Learn which diving specialties interest you and what type of diving you enjoy most. Gain more confidence and capability. Begin to consider the direction diving will take you as you go for everything it has to offer. Four specialty courses and 24 dives will qualify for advanced open water certification.
Specialty Training – $150
Take advantage of an unlimited variety of NAUI Specialty Courses to explore or master new diving interests. Learn what it takes to participate in specialized activities. See what equipment is available to accomplish your dive objectives. You choose the aspects of diving that interest and benefit you the most. You can even ask your OTWA Instructor to set up a course that meets your needs or desires. Some of the specialties offered include: Deep Diving , Night/Limited Visibility Diving , Equipment Techniques Photography , Navigation , Wreck Diving , Computer , Search and Recovery add $25. Boat, Video and course material is included. Dives required for most specialty courses.
Stress and Rescue – $299 (plus e-learning)
This specialty course is your first step toward diving leadership and a necessary one toward fully accepting diving responsibility. NAUI accepts that diving is not a sport without hazards – and prepares you to evaluate and cope with those hazards, whether they impact you or others. This course is your path to that goal. Course includes 2 classes, 1 pool session and 1 lake session. A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended. A video and book kit is provided.
Master Diver Certification – $495 (plus e-learning)
Gain the in-depth knowledge that will establish you as a recognized authority in your diving club or group. Hone your diving skills to the level of a professional diving leader. Thrill to the adventure of open water dives in settings that will test your abilities to their limit while enhancing and expanding your diving capabilities. Master diver rating can be obtained upon completion of 4 specialty courses, the stress and rescue course and 50 dives.
Nitrox – $139
A course designed to provide recreational divers with an alternative breathing medium within the recreational sport diving limits. During the four hour lecture, students will gain a basic understanding of the advantages and limitations of nitrox as well as a “user friendly” approach to learning the laws that govern the use of nitrox. Course includes 2 classes and 2 dives (minimum of 30 feet). A comprehensive exam is given. May substitute as a specialty course for advanced open water certification.
Technical Courses
Intro to Tech $200
This course introduces students to the world of technical diving. The objective is to familiarize the student with technical gear configurations, to enhance open water diving skills such as buoyancy, trim and situaional awareness, and to introduce students to advanced gas planning techniques within a no-decompression context. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age of 18 years or 15 years with parental consent, Advanced Diver Certification, Proof of 25 logged open water dives. Equipment Requirements: Basic open water gear, Lift bag & reel, Slate or wet notes. Course Structure and Duration: Minimum of three dives, depth less than 75 feet, Minimum of six hours of classroom and briefing. More Info
GEM SCR Rebreather $500
This course is designed to train recreational divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using the GEM semi-closed rebreather. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age 18, 15 with parental consent, Minimum certification of Nitrox Diver, may be combined in program, or equivalent at the descretion of the instructor, Equipment Requirements: GEM semi-closed rebreather, Standard open circuit dive gear. Course Structure & Duration: Minimum of five dives, 240 minutes of dive time. More Info
Advanced Nitrox Course $250
This course examines the use of EAN-21 (air) through on hundred (100) percent oxygen for optimal mixes to a depth of 130 fsw. The objective of this course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for utilizing EAN-21 through 100% oxygen for dives not requiring staged decompression. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age of 15 years (if combined with Decompression Procedures the minimum age is 18 years. Minimum certification of Nitrox Diver: Proof of 25 logged open water dives, Equipment Requirements: Standard open water equipment, Pony bottle optional, Nitrox cylinders and access to oxygen analyzer. Course Structure and Duration: Four dives with a minimum accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes, If Advanced Nitrox is taught in conjunction with Decompression Procedures a total of six dives are required with a maximum depth of 150 fsw. Decompression Procedures $250
This course examines the theory, methods, and procedures of planned stage decompression diving. It can be a stand-alone course or taught in conjunction with Advanced Nitrox. The objective of this course is to train divers how to plan and conduct a standard staged decompression dive not exceeding a maximum depth of 150 fsw. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age of 18 years, Minimum certification of Advanced Open Water Diver, Proof of 25 logged open water dives. Equipment Requirements: Standard open water equipment, Ascent reel with lift bag or surface marker buoy, Underwater slate. Course Structure and Duration: Four dives, two of which must be deeper than 100 feet, If Advanced Nitrox is taught in conjunction with Decompression Procedures, only a total of six dives are required. Extended Range Diver $700
This course provides training and experience required to competently utilize air for dives up to 180 fsw that requires staged decompression, utilizing Nitrox mixtures or oxygen during decompression. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age 18 years, Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures Diver, Minimum of 100 logged dives, 25 of which must be deeper than 100 fsw Equipment Requirements: Standard open water equipment, Dual outlet valve, double manifold, or independent doubles, Decompression mix cylinders, Redundant depth and timing devices, Redundant light system, if needed, Ascent reel with lift bag or surface marker buoy (minimum 25 lb lift capacity), Two line cutting devices, Underwater slate. Course Structure and Duration: Six dives with a minimum accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes, All dives must be deeper than 100 feet with four deeper than 130 feet Minimum number of classroom and briefing hours is eight. Trimix Diver $700
This course provides the training required to competently and safely utilize breathing gases containing helium for dives that require staged decompression to a maximum depth of 200 fsw. Student Prerequisites: Minimum age 18 years, Advanced Nitrox/Decompression Procedures, Minimum of 100 logged dives, Equipment Requirements: Standard open water equipment. Dual outlet valve, double manifold, or independent doubles, Decompression mix cylinders, Redundant depth and timing devices, Redundant light system, if needed, Ascent reel with lift bag or surface marker buoy (minimum 50 lb lift capacity), Two line cutting devices, Underwater slate. Closed Circuit Rebreather Diving (Sport KISS and KISS Classic): $1,000 This course if for divers wishing to learn closed circuit rebreather diving. The objective is to train divers in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving a CCR to a maximum depth of 130 fsw with air diluent for minimal decompression diving (no greater than five minutes at 20 fsw). Student Prerequisites: Minimum age 18 years, Advanced Nitrox diver (may be combined with this course), Minimum 60 logged dives. Equipment Requirements: Basic open water gear, CCR – purchased or rented for the course, Underwater slate, Reel and lift bag or surface marker buoy, Bailout gas supply. Course Structure and Duration: Minimum of six hours of academic development and two hours equipment maintenance, Duration of the course must be spread over five days, Minimum of 120 minutes of confined water training to maximum of 30 fsw, Minimum 360 minutes of open water training over a minimum of six dives (maximum depth 130 fsw).
